Amy Hayter Lampley was called home to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon, 27-Jun-2026 in Mexia TX. She was born in Rogers NM on 1-March-1931. Amy was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, gardening, long walks in the park and sharing vacations with her immediate and extended families. She also liked to have a beautiful yard.
Amy was a devoted mother, loyal wife, a committed Christian and sought to instill Christian values into the hearts and lives of her children. She tried to maintain her home as a safe haven for her children; a place where they always felt comfortable, safe, and loved.
Amy lived in Odessa, TX where she married Dwight (Butch) Wheeler and raised her children. Butch died 30-April-1989 and shortly after, she moved to San Angelo, TX. In Feb 1991 she met and married G H Lampley. They remained in San Angelo until June 2021 when they moved to Mexia, TX to be with family.
Amy is survived by sister Shirley Weddle; daughters Patricia Cox and husband Ed Cox, Mexia TX, Becky Banke and husband Chris Banke, Canby Oregon, and Rachelle Beca and husband Vyapi Beca, Camiere Mississippi; one son-in-law Durwood Jones, Cibolo TX; two nephews Dan Brett, Hutto TX and Joe Brett, Austin TX; grandchildren Tara Jones, Midlothian, TX, Jason Jones, Big Lake TX, Bill Weiser, Mexia TX, Britainey Jackson, Arlington TX, Michael Fergus, Sour Lake TX, and Jeanette Banke and Matt Banke, both of Canby Oregon; great grandchildren Keeth Foux, Lexington KY, Kaily Berkshire, Indiana, Bryce Corn, Indiana, Brenden Corn, Indiana, Scarlet Jackson and Walker Jackson, both of Arlington TX. Also, she has eleven great, great grandchildren, a number nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death; were parents W.A. Hayter and Bessie (Pool) Hayter; husbands Dwight (Butch) Wheeler and G H Lampley; brothers R.L. Hayter, Donald Hayter, and Claude Hayter; sisters Doris Hayter, Bernice Coudding, Viola (Vi) Martin, Lara (Denie) Taylor, and Dorothy (Dot) Upton; daughter Phyllis Jones, son Mike Wheeler; and grandchildren Ronda Fergus and Chris Jones.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia, Texas. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will at the Mexia City Cemetery following the service.
