Barbara Jean Cox, of Mexia, passed away September 17, 2016 in Temple, Texas at the age of 73. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church with Pastor David Bolden officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9:30-11:00 a.m., Thursday at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. Barbara was born in Mexia, Texas on August 9, 1943 to Lee Benjamin and Lois Bell Clendenen Smith. She was a lifetime resident of Mexia. She was a retired CNA. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially, her grandchildren. She was a lover of animals; she had three dogs that were, also, a special part of her family, Patches, Shorty, Judd. Barbara enjoyed decorating her yard for all the different holidays. She was a caring and compassionate person who will be truly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Stevie, Rodney, Gary and Kenneth Page and Charlie Cox; grandson, Robert Wilder, Jr.; and brothers, Edward and Billy Smith. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Pamela Guest, Lisa Smith, Angela Page Bratton and husband, Tiny, Shonda Maddox and Donna Cox and husband, Mike Davis; son, Billy Cox, Jr.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Marilyn Measels, Vicki Ward and Betty Sterling; and a number of nieces and nephews.
