Benjamin Donald “Don” O’Pry, of Mexia, passed away July 22, 2020 in Waco, Texas at the age of 87. Graveside services will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2020 in the Mexia Cemetery with Rev. Michael Vestal officiating.
Don was born May 2, 1933 in Buffalo, Texas to Irvin and Olivia Vickery O’Pry. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S Army. He retired from Nucor Steel after many years of service in the maintenance department.
On, Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1952, Don married his sweetheart, Faye Nell Holmes. They were blessed with 56 years together, prior to her death on December 31, 2008. He loved his family and like most grandfather’s, “Papaw” was especially proud of his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nothing make him happier than being with them.
Don was a longtime active member of Temple Baptist Church. In addition to enjoying church activities, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Irvin and Olivia O'Pry; wife, Faye Nell O’Pry; daughter, Kathy Faye Robinson; and brothers, John I. O'Pry of Corsicana and Lee O'Pry of Fairfield..
Don is survived by his children, Ricky Don O’Pry and wife, Cynthia of Mexia, Donna Kaye of Georgetown and Rhonda Gail Stelter and husband, Fred of Waco; grandchildren, Darrell and Jason Robinson, Brandi Brim, Tara Cannon, Gregory O’Pry, Ryan Hancock, Kyndal Jacobs, Morgan Semler and Reid, Ryan and Rylie Cate; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Doyle O'Pry of Oakwood; and sisters, Barbara Dechaume of Corsicana and Wanda Lewis of Dawson. .
