She graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Masters in Home Economics. She taught for the Mexia ISD for 32 years, prior to retirement. It was also in Mexia that she met and married her loving husband, W. E. "Ed" Holt. Betty devoted her life to serving the Lord, her family, the students she taught and in being very active in the Point Enterprise Community. Spending time with her family and teaching her children to grow up loving the Lord and treating everyone with respect was very important to her. Family vacations were also important to her, it didn't have to be anything extravagant, just time together and learning about the things of the world. She was a very active, longtime member of the Northcrest Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, participated in preparing meals for families in times of need, sent cards for the We Care Class and made Communion preparations. Betty loved teaching and her students. She liked to go out to eat just to visit with people. She had many talents; she enjoyed painting, sculpturing, sketching, even did the blue prints for their home and wrote children's stories. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, Ed Holt; brothers, John D., Neal J. and Billy J. Knox; and sisters, Olean "Sister: Netzle, Vivian Kathryn Feldman, Virginia Knox and Ella Garrett. Betty is survived by her three children, Mimi Holt Sharp of Groesbeck, Walton E.
