Betty Louise Green Lemanski, age 88, of Waco, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, surrounded by family.
Betty was born May 13, 1937, in Dawson, Texas, to Sam and Myra (Leath) Green. She grew up on a farm west of Coolidge and graduated from Coolidge High School in 1954. She started her banking career at Bellmead State Bank and successfully advanced throughout her career becoming Vice President of Operations. She retired from Nations Bank, now Bank of America, after 37 years in August of 1992.
On August 22, 1959 Betty married Frank Lemanski at First Baptist Church in Coolidge. Frank passed away July 10, 2013, just short of their 54th wedding anniversary.
Betty found joy in sewing, gardening, and caregiving. An incredibly talented seamstress, she lovingly sewed countless garments over the years—from her own wedding dress to clothes for her children and grandchildren. She loved sharing her talents, patiently teaching her daughters and granddaughters how to sew, even if the lessons were more laughter than stitching. Her creativity extended to her garden, where she nurtured both vegetables and a beautiful mix of flowers. Roses were her favorite, and her love for them lives on through the flourishing rose gardens of her daughters and granddaughters. Above all, Betty cherished time spent with her family. She delighted in every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also lovingly cared for her husband during the 17 and a half years after receiving a heart transplant, a testament to her unwavering devotion and strength.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Dewey Green and wife Bobbie McDonald Green, Alvin Green and wife Doris Burke Green, great-niece Lauren Green, and niece Sharon Green.
She is survived by daughters, LuAnn and husband Danny Pickens of Axtell, Lisa and husband Mark Abernathy of Weatherford; grandchildren, Kristin and husband Johnnie Badgett, Mandi and husband Weston Canuteson, Kayla and husband Galen Childress, Dakota and wife Payton Abernathy; great-grandchildren Luke and Jake Badgett, Charlotte, Colt, and Tate Canuteson, Caden Rodgers, Kanon Childress, and Dillon Abernathy; nephews Richard Green and wife Robin Green, Roger (RD) Green, and Ronnie Green and wife Judy Green; brothers and sisters-in-law Barbara Yant, David and Billie Lemanski, Benny and Peggy Lemanski, Mary and George Isham, and Tommy and Bliss Lemanski; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 17th at 10:00 am with service beginning at 11:00 am at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia with Father Stephen Nesrsta officiating. Burial will follow at Coolidge Cemetery, Coolidge, Texas.
Pallbearers are Dakota Abernathy, Luke Badgett, Caden Rodgers, Johnnie Badgett, Weston Canuteson, and Galen Childress. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Green, Roger Green and Bill Kelley.
