Betty Louise Rothrock

Betty Louise Hicks Rothrock, 65, was born on August 26, 1961, in Terrell, Texas, and passed away on September 22, 2026. She lived in Mesquite, Texas, before eventually making her home in Mexia, Texas.

Betty married the love of her life, Charles Rothrock, on February 14, 1999. They shared their lives together until his passing, and the love they shared remained an important part of Betty’s life.

Betty loved her family fiercely and was a caretaker at heart. She was always taking care of someone, making sure the people she loved had what they needed, and opening her home to family and friends. If you were at Betty’s house, you probably heard her say, “If you ain’t home, go home.” Everyone was welcome to make themselves comfortable, and her home had a way of becoming yours too.

Betty was unapologetically herself. She was crazy, fun, and never afraid to let people see exactly who she was. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends, listening to music, riding the back roads, playing bingo, and trying her luck at the casino. She also loved cooking and baking and was especially known for her famous banana nut bread and chocolate bread.

One of Betty’s greatest loves was her granddaughter, Kadynce, whom she lovingly called her “Stinker” because Kadynce loved to trick her, joke around, and make her laugh. It was a nickname filled with the fun and laughter they shared together.

Betty also had an incredible love for her animals. They weren’t simply pets—they were her babies and an important part of her family. She leaves behind her beloved fur babies, Holly Jo, Peanut, and Ghost.

Through everything life brought her, Betty was a fighter. She loved hard, cared deeply, and remained a fighter all the way through the end.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Joyce Hicks, and her husband, Charles Rothrock.

She is survived by her daughter, Kayla Cargile; son-in-law, Kiber Silva; and granddaughter, Kadynce Silva.

She is also survived by her sister, Jo Pulliam; nephew Jeremy Pulliam, his wife Daisy, and their children Lily and Luka; niece Rebecca Turnipseed, her husband Shane—Betty’s favorite in-law—and their sons Landon and Dalton, along with Dalton’s wife, Lindsey; niece Amanda Pulliam and her son, Ace; and nephew Coleman Betts and his children JoLeigh, AJ, and Athena.

Betty is also survived by her brother, Curtis Hicks; sisters-in-law Laura Rothrock and Sandra “Sandy” Hensley and her husband, Larry; nephew Michael Hensley, his wife Mandy, and children Marshall and Marilyn Pittman; and Wayne Hensley, his wife Carrie, and their sons Neal and Charles.

There will be no formal visitation or memorial service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, when Kayla is ready, giving those who loved Betty an opportunity to come together, share memories, laugh, and celebrate the woman she was.

Betty’s life was centered around loving and caring for the people—and animals—who meant the most to her. Those who loved her will miss her cooking, her open door, her humor, her wild side, her strength, and the unmistakable personality that made her who she was.

Betty was simply Betty—crazy, loving, welcoming, strong, and never afraid to be herself. And that’s exactly how she will be remembered. ❤️
