Billie Jo Hankins

Billie Jo Hankins, of Pearland, entered her heavenly home on June 18, 2022 at the age of 81.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Norcross officiating.  Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery in Limestone County.

Billie was born October 13, 1940 in Mexia, Texas to Albert Vinson and Anna Eulalie (Ingram) Faulkner.  She grew up in Houston and lived most of life in that area.  After high school, she furthered her education to become a Registered Nurse.  She retired after working for several hospitals and nursing homes, completing over 50 plus years of service as a nurse.

Billie was a nurse before she was anything else.  Nursing was her passion and she practiced into her 70’s, and often contemplated what nursing jobs she wanted in her old age.  However, she eventually gave up that idea to focus on her husband, Larry, as his health declined.

For many years, she and Larry ran a business called Crafty Senior Stuff featuring Black Kettle soaps and lotions that they swore could cure just about anything.

Years ago, Billie got into quilting and made numerous quilts for children and grandchildren.  One of her greatest joys was making baby quilts for just about everyone she knew with a new baby coming.  She also loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and, her family was convinced that she could have probably won if she had ever had the opportunity to participate on TV.

Billie truly loved the Lord, her family, and friends.  No matter where she lived, she would seek out a church in which she could fellowship with other Christians and serve her Lord and Savior.  She loved her role as a mother, but nothing could compare to her love for the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Billie had an outgoing personality, always happy, and enjoyed life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Anna Faulkner; husband, Larry McMurray Hankins (8-18-21); sisters, Shirley Nugent, Nellie Faye Vincent, and Judy Morrow.

Billie is survived by her sister, Patricia Moran; stepchildren, Julie Walker and Clifford Hankins; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
