Bobby Wayne Jones

Bobby Wayne Jones, of Groesbeck, entered his heavenly home on September 17, 2023 at the age of 85.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Central Baptist Church in Thornton. Reverend Tracy Sims will officiate with son, Edward Jones and grandson, Trevor Jones also speaking.

Bobby was born July 24, 1938 in Harlingen, Texas to Rudolph and Zelma Fay (McQueen) Jones.  He loved the Lord and dedicated his life to Him; he Pastored several churches over a period of 30 years.  However, after retiring, he continued the Lord’s work by teaching Sunday School in Thornton while also doing something else he thoroughly enjoyed, upholstery.  He was able to do his upholstery work until 3 years prior to his death.

Bobby married Heneretta Sue Keele and they were blessed with five children.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He loved his family and spending time with them was the highlight of his life.  When they came to visit, he enjoyed getting everyone together to play a card game called 313.  In his leisure time, Bobby liked to work in the yard, gardening, and canning vegetables from his garden.  He was also a “Jack of All Trades”, he could fix most anything.

Bobby was an active member of the Central Baptist Church in Thornton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Rudolph and Zelma Jones; infant son, Larry Dwayne Jones; brothers, Jimmy and Rodger Jones.; and sister, Jerry Gamache.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Sue Jones; children, Edward Jones, Tammy Pollard, Vincent Jones, and Casey Jones and wife, Stephanie; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Margie Barnes, Brenda Navarro, and Dolly Crow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
