Brenda Gail Miller, of Mexia, passed away July 10, 2018 in Waco at the age of 73. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2018 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Billy Woodward, Justin Woodward, Brandon Red Elk, Nathan Red Elk, Samuel Miller and Shanon Miller will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Scott and Colby Dunavan. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Brenda was born July 2, 1945 to John Thomas Jones and Marjorie Easterling Jones. She grew up and attended school in Groesbeck. Brenda married the love of her life, James Ray Miller, on July 2, 1963 in Groesbeck, then Mexia became home. They were happily married for 50 years at the time of his death in 2013. Through the years, she worked at J.C Penney's, Karner Phillips, Flatt Stationers and eventually, the Mexia State School where she retired. Everyone who knew Brenda, recognized her sweet, gentle nature and her beautiful blue eyes that lighted up with a smile. She stayed at home and cared for her children, as well as her nieces and nephews until the last one started school. Brenda loved her family and adored her grandchildren. She kept an emaculate home and loved working in the yard and watching birds. She was preceded in death by her father, John Jones; mother, Marjorie Jones; step-father, Paul Jones; husband, James R. Miller; and brother, Thomas "Bubba" Jones. Brenda is survived by her loving children, Traci Woodward and husband, Johnny of Waco, David Craig Miller and wife, Mariann of Spokane, WA and Dana Lyn Red Elk and fiancé, Michael Scott of Mexia; grandchildren, Billy Woodward, Justin Woodward, Brandon Red Elk, Nathan Red Elk, Samuel Miller, Madeleine Miller, Isabela Miller; great grandchildren, Dillen Woodward and Bentley Dooley; siblings, Billy Wayne Jones, Bob Jones, Cherri Miller and Debbie Pope; sister-in-law, Peggy Dunavan and Delilah Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. Flowers for the service or memorials may be made to the Brain Trauma Foundation.
