Carlton Zavada

April 7, 1941 — August 19, 2021

Carlton Zavada

Carlton Zavada was born on April 7, 1941 to Louis and Millie Zavada in Wheelock, Texas.  He resided in his family home until December 1972 when he was placed in the Mexia SSLC.  In October 1974, Carlton was transferred to Brenham SSLC, for geographic reason, and remained in the area, within the community, until his passing.

It is reported that Carlton had three biological siblings, Betty, Tommy, and Lilly.  Carlton spent his last years living in the same town with Lilly.  Lilly currently resides in the same nursing facility that Carlton was residing in before his demise.  Carlton lived a good life within the community in a group home setting with three young men he considered his best friends and brothers.  He loved sitting on the front porch with them, going shopping, playing dominoes, and watching westerns on television.  Carlton will truly be missed by his roommates of over 15 years, Thomas Smith, Aubrey Newson, and Steven Brunkhoefer.  Carlton touched so many lives during his 80 years of life.

A special thank you to his caregivers who have loved and cared for him for more than 20 years; Debra Jackson, Pauline Daucus, Paula Babers, Delores Parker, Laura Babers, and Linda Martin.  As I close, I want to say Thank you Carlton for Blessing us with many wonderful memories of your funny sense of humor and smile, we will truly miss you but never forget you.

Your forever friends and Family at MHMRA of Brazos Valley.
