Carolyn was born in Burton, Texas on March 12, 1934 to Carl F.W. and Lydia Kelm Merten. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Covenant School of Nursing in Lubbock in 1954 while working for Groesbeck LTC. She worked at various hospitals and nursing facilities, during her career of 61years, prior to retiring from Groesbeck LTC. Although Carolyn was dedicated to her nursing career, her family was the most important part of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Carolyn was caring, strong and a hard worker who managed to take care of her family while also taking care of so many others. When she had the opportunity, she enjoyed traveling, fishing, raising chickens, growing all types of flowers and spoiling her precious dog, Prissy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilford Ainsworth; sister, Charlene Hohlt; and infant twins, a brother and sister. Carolyn is survived by her loving children, John Ainsworth and wife, Barbara of Groesbeck, Carla Robison and husband, Joey of Thornton and Pam Grissett and husband, Ray of Buffalo; grandchildren, Toby Ainsworth, Michael and Melissa Grissett, Carl and Kendra Grissett, James and Mandy Robison, Traci and Jud Hughes; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Madeline Wittneben of Burton; a number of nieces, nephews and extended family; and her faithful companion, Prissy. Pallbearers will be Carl Grissett, Michael Grissett, Jud Hughes, Todd Pruett, James Robison and Toby Ainsworth. Carolyn's family wishes to thank the staff of Limestone Medical Center and Groesbeck LTC for their kind care.
