Bertie Coreta Watson passed away, October 2, 2018, at her home in Cotton Gin at the age of 99. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Bro. Scott Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery (Limestone County). Jason Browne, Trent Daniel, Andrew Morris, Monte Calame, Jared Horton and Ryan Anzelmo will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Lonnie Mason. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Coreta was born June 14, 1919 in the LaSalle Community, in Limestone County, to James Marvin and Linnie Maud Phillips Freeman. She married, Vick Watson, Jr., on September 12, 1936 in Mexia, Texas; they were blessed with seven children, Dorothy Jean, Lonnie, Carolyn, Ronnie, Glenda, Brenda and Joyce. Coreta's life revolved around her family, they were her inspiration and world. She, especially, enjoyed spending time with her precious grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Coreta was happiest when her home was filled with children, no matter whose children.

Coreta also enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and loved going on vacations with her daughters. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 33 years, Vick Watson, Jr.; son, Ronnie Watson; daughters, Dorothy Jean Duncan and Joyce Hogan; brother, Cecil Freeman and great granddaughter Megan Mason.

Coreta is survived by her loving children, Lonnie Watson and wife Jodi of Teague, Carolyn York and husband Jimmy of Teague, Glenda Duke and husband Alan of Lake Whitney and Brenda Browne and husband Paul of Mexia; grandchildren, Janet Frazier, Lonnie Mason, Jerry Watson, Vicki Calame, Mitzi Daniel, Kim Mason Daniel, Ronald Watson, Paula Morris, Jason Browne, Michael Watson and Brandy Anzelmo; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Aubrey Freeman of Dallas and A. B. Freeman of Bonham; sisters, Bess King of Dallas, Kate Moore of Ben Wheeler and LaVelle Olexa of Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
