Funeral services for Curtis E. VanWinkle, 76 of Shiloh will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006 in Blair - Stubbs Chapel, Mexia. Mr. Neil Bond and Rev. Marcus Sheffield will officiate with interment to follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Mr. VanWinkle was born on September 15, 1929 in Shiloh to J. R. and Eather Cooley VanWinkle and passed away at his residence on June 9, 2006. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 11 years and then worked at the Mexia State School, retiring in 1977. He was a farmer all of his life and was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Leland VanWinkle. He is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine (Compton) VanWinkle, whom he married on December 26, 1947, his children, Curtis Eugene VanWinkle, Kathy McNeal and Tommie Wayne Reed; grandchildren: Chris VanWinkle, Jamie and Sally VanWinkle, Aimee VanWinkle, Jason Lane and Kathy Bowling, Joey and Shawna Lane, Cord McNeal, Curt Reed, and Laura VanWinkle, great grandchildren, Hunter Lane, Madison Lane, MaKaleigh Lane, Jager VanWinkle, Kandice Bowling, Triton Bowling and Preston Bowling, brother, Jimmy VanWinkle and wife, Sharlette, of Mexia. Pallbearers will be Curt Reed, Jason Lane, Cord McNeal, Joey Lane, Jamie VanWinkle, Chris VanWinkle, Rickey VanWinkle and Mickey VanWinkle.
