David Wilson

David Marc Wilson March 3, 1953 - April 23, 2016 Marc Wilson passed peacefully into heaven's arms on Saturday at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving family, including his soulmate and wife of nearly 40 years, Pamela Kay Wilson. Marc's life was one of music, ministry and family. He served as Minister of Music in his home church of FBC Deleon, Texas while he was attending college at Howard Payne University. At HPU Marc was a proud member of the Swinging Stinger Band, playing in the "Mighty Trumpet Section". The band not only marched corp-style at football games, but also performed sacred and secular music in churches across Texas and internationally. After graduating with a Bachelor in Music from HPU and a Master in Music Ministry from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, Marc was called to First Baptist Church of Mexia, Texas. Marc served the church faithfully for over 35 years, directing church choirs, ensembles, Christmas dinner theatres, and community Broadway musicals. Perhaps his greatest musical ministry was the Mexia Easter Pageant, which he created, produced and directed for decades, touching countless lives. As a member of the world-famous CenturyMen choir, Marc traveled the world with 100 auditioned music ministers. During Marc's tenure with the group, the CenturyMen were Grammy Award finalists, nominated for Dove Awards, and traveled the globe sharing the Gospel of Christ through music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Sue Wilson and Jimmie Lee Wilson. Marc's most important ministry and priority was his family. Marc Wilson is survived by his wife, Pam Wilson of Mexia; son, Marcus Wilson and wife, Amanda of Lorena, TX; daughter, Natalie Nelson and husband, David of Hewitt, TX; and his grandchildren, Braden, Allie, Rylee and Easton Wilson and Byrnlee Nelson. A celebration of Marc's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the McGregor Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be David Allen, Jack Ballard, Asa Burgess, Herb Casey, Dwayne Craig, Mike Huddleston, Bill Matthews, Randy Miller, Keith Price, Benjie Reed and Walter Van DeWeghe.
