Deana Ann Richardson Morton Harris, 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on May 4, 2024.  A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Reverend Shane Norcross officiating.  Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Deana was born on July 15, 1947 in Houston, Texas to James William Richardson and Etta Esther Vest.    After living in Danbury for several years, her family moved to Groesbeck where she attended school and graduated from Groesbeck High School, Class of 1965.  She enjoyed school and was very involved in many activities; she, especially, loved playing the trumpet in the marching band.  Deana was very outgoing, friendly, and greeted everyone with a smile; she made many friends throughout the years.

After graduating high school, Deana married and moved to Forest Glade.  She was blessed with two children, Clint and Jeana.  Deana was a wonderful, supportive, and loving mother.   She later became a proud grandmother and like most grandmothers, there was nothing that could compare to the love she had for them.  She enjoyed watching them grow up and was always involved in their lives in every way.   Deana also had a passion for animals, she would tirelessly rescue many dogs and cats and nurse them back to health.

While living in the Mexia area, Deana worked as a secretary at the Mexia State School.  She later, remarried and moved to Palestine where she worked as a jailer for the Anderson County Sheriff Department.  She also enjoyed running her own cleaning business.

When Deana wasn’t spending time with family or working, she enjoyed reading, loved dancing, camping, and going to the beach.

She was preceded in death by her father, James W. Richardson; mother, Etta Esther Vest; and brother, Preston Richardson.

Deana is survived by her beloved daughter, Jeana Morton Young McLelland and son-in-law, Josh McLelland; son, Clint Morton; granddaughter, Laura Young; grandson, Brody McLelland; beloved sister, Madlyn Brooks; sister-in-law, Marsha Richardson; niece, Monica Stanford; nephews, Wayne Jackson, Eric Brooks, and Hoyet Richardson.
