Delores Collene (Sims) "Cotton" Shoemaker went home to her Lord and Savior August 12, 2006. Born October 14, 1928, she was 77 years old. She was a Clute resident for 52 years. Viewing and visitation with the family will be Friday, August 18th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home, Mexia TX. Services will be on Saturday, August 19th at 11:00am at Blair-Stubbs, followed by graveside service at Lost Prairie Cemetery. Delores was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, W. E. (Bill) Shoemaker, sisters, Donia Wyona (Sis) Fullen, Charlene Morrow, Frances (Babe) Carrier, and brothers J.R. (Boots) Sims and Sonny Sims. Delores is survived by children Collene Lewis, Cathy Anderson (David) and Jay Shoemaker, Austin TX. Donna Wolfe (Mike), New Braunfels TX and Leah Allen (John), Folsom CA. Grandchildren Jim McKeever Jr. (Kristi), Waxahachie TX, Elizabeth Allen, San Diego CA, Kimberly Allen, San Francisco CA, Samantha Novak, New Braunfels TX, Rachel Novak, Boerne TX, Myranda Anderson, Andrew Anderson and Austin Anderson, Austin TX. Great grandchildren, Hayley Jones, Kora and Larkyn McKeever, Waxahachie TX. Delores was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years and most recently Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Round Rock TX. She also was a bus driver and bus monitor for BISD for over 30 years, where she truly enjoyed the early childhood and special education students she faithfully transported for many years. Mrs. Shoemaker was very involved in community organizations as a Girl Scout leader, one of the original Clute Library Association organizers and as a 4-H leader. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Delores's name to New Braunfels Hope Hospice, 611 N. Walnut Ave., New Braunfels TX 78130.
