Dionicio Ignacio Martinez, 64, of Mexia passed away peacefully at his home, June 25, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones. A Celebration of Life for Dionicio will be 11 AM, Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Deacon Dwight Mahoney officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Dionicio was born May 12, 1953 in Alvaro Obregon, Michoacan, Mexico to Agustin and Maria Jesus Fonseca Martinez; he was the 3rd child of 13 children. He brought his family to the United States, 39 years ago, in order to provide a better life for them. Prior to retirement, he worked in construction, primarily for power plants. Dionicio loved nothing more than spending time with his family, they were his inspiration and the light of his life. He like to do most anything outdoors. Dionicio especially enjoyed riding, and just being around, horses; he was a cowboy at heart. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mexia. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dionicio is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Teresa Martinez of Mexia; four children, David Martinez and wife, Rosa, Agustin Martinez and wife, Melissa, Rose Martinez and Eloy Martinez; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Macie, Marcus, Joshua and Kylynn Martinez, Amarion Medlock, Asia Martinez-Carter, Matthew Martinez and Ryan Martinez; and sisters and brothers, Margarita Diaz of Dallas, Maria Elena Refugio of Mexico, Anjelina Chavez of Mexico, Gloria Valcazar of Mexico, Pilar Diaz of Mexico, Teresa Lara of California, Rosario Esquivias of Mexico, Jose Louis Martinez of Mexico, Pedro Martinez of Mexia, Eresmo Martinez of Colorado, Vicente Martinez of Mexico and Raul Martinez of Mexia.
