Visitation with the family will be 5-6 p.m., Tuesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Donnie was born October 1, 1936 in Teague, Texas to Woodrow Wilson and Minnie Gladys (Lewis) Hinchliffe.  After graduating from Mexia High School, he attended Navarro College and Tarleton State University.  Donnie served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard Company B 143rd Infantry for several years.   He retired from Cargill, Inc., October 1, 1991, after completing 31 years of service as an Assistant Superintendent.

On November 9, 1957, Donnie married Carolyn Stewart at the First United Methodist Church in Mexia.  They were blessed with three children, Donnie, Duane, and Angee and over 65 wonderful years together.  His family was the light of his life; he enjoyed nothing more than spending as much time as possible with his family.  Regardless of what Donnie’s children were involved in, sports or any other activity, they knew their Dad was always going to be there supporting them.  Pawpaw, as he was also known, looked forward to visits from his grandkids and great grandkids.  He had as much fun taking them fishing and entertaining them with yard surfing, as they did; they were truly the light of his life.

Donnie loved being outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and taking care of his home and property. He also enjoyed telling jokes and stories.  Some of his, and Carolyn’s, favorite times together were spent square dancing and traveling with the Barn Stompers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Donnie Lane Hinchliffe and Duane Scott Hinchliffe; and two sisters, Ouida H. Foster and Patsy H. Wofford.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hinchliffe; daughter, Angee Lynne Hinchliffe Andrus; son-in-law, Glen Alan Andrus; daughter-in-law, Jenny Duncan Hinchliffe; grandchildren, Crystal Fontenot McMillan (Jim), April Michelle Hinchliffe, Heather Nicole Hinchliffe, Kristyn Lynn Hinchliffe (Jennifer), Dylan Scott Hinchliffe, Dalton Stewart Hinchliffe, Lauren Moran Andrus Lynch (Devon), Luke Alan Andrus (Christina), and Sydney Ryanne Andrus Hirt (Brazos); and great grandchildren, James McMillan, III, Amelia Hinchliffe, Levi Hinchliffe, and Matthew Errirsuriz-Hinchliffe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice of Mexia or First Baptist Church 500 E. Carthage, Mexia, TX 76667.
