Dorothy Ann Pevehouse passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will continue to live on in all who knew her.
A devoted Christian, Dorothy had a deep and unwavering love for Jesus and lived her life guided by faith, compassion, and grace. She was born October 13, 1944, in Mexia, Texas, and attended Mexia High School. She married her beloved husband, John Pevehouse, on September 22, 1962, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and devotion.
Her greatest pride and joy were her children, Mike and Kim (husband Bill), and her two cherished grandsons, Tyler (wife Lauren) and Dalton. She found immense happiness in her family and treasured every moment spent with them. Dorothy will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love by her family and friends.
Dorothy had a gift for creating beauty in the world around her. She loved sewing, gardening, and tending to her flowers, filling her yard with color and life. She also had a fun, competitive side and was known to be a very good pool player.
Dorothy was a longtime active member of the Northside Baptist Church in Mexia; she loved her church, church family and always a willing to help with church activities whenever needed.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, John Pevehouse; son Mike; daughter Kim and son-in-law Bill; grandsons Tyler and wife Lauren and Dalton; brother Stanley “Bud” Gregory; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Pauline Gregory, sisters Betty Marie Combs and Brenda Jo Kennedy, and brother Freddie Gean Dabney.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Wright officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Chris Kennedy, Steven Dabney, Steven Minchew, Jorge Samaniego, Bobby Bailey, and Jody Kennedy will serve as pallbearers.
