She graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1947, where she was in the Choir Club, on Annual Staff, Senior Class Editor, and Extemporaneous Speaking Program. Dorothy attended Westminster College in Tehuacana for a short time until she met Myron Vinson from Coolidge whom she married on June 12, 1948.
Dorothy began her career working in a café that she and Myron owned in Coolidge. She later worked at Glover’s Department Store in Coolidge, Joe Hancock’s Drug Store and Butane Distribution Company in Coolidge, Mexia State School Pharmacy, and First State Bank (now Incommons Bank) in Coolidge.

Other church activities in which she participated included Lord’s Acre, family nights, behind the scenes at the monthly men’s club dinners, Halloween carnivals, including bingo and cakewalks held in downtown Coolidge. She enjoyed and made parties out of family events and enjoyed just getting together with friends and family for card games and dominoes (especially 42).
She loved all her nieces and nephews as well as her many great nieces and nephews, which are too numerous to name.
