On April 21, 2026, Douglas Wayne Stewart of Lake Limestone died at the at of 82. Doug, the third of four sons born to George and Alice Stewart, was born in San Angelo, Texas on June 3, 1943. He was a 1961 graduate of Lakeview High School.  After graduating, he joined the Army, serving three years as a Demolition Specialist.  While in the Army, he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret.  Upon completing his military service, he returned to San Angelo and with Margaret's help graduated from Angelo State University in 1969.  Following graduation, they moved to Houston where Doug had a successful career in Corporate Taxation and Corporate Accounting.  He was a Certified Public Accountant and was a member of several professional organizations including the Tax Executives Institute Inc. and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He also served as Chief Appraiser for the Mills County Appraisal District.

Doug always felt that his life was blessed by being able to spend time at the lake fishing with his sons, and grandchildren as well as with other family and friends. He also especially enjoyed attending their many youth sporting and school events.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Glyn Stewart of Kerrville, Texas, Gary Stewart of Wasilla, Alaska and David Stewart of Breeding, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret, his two sons, Steve and wife Cindy of The Woodlands, Texas, Robert and wife Leah of Thornton, Texas, sister in-laws Patsy Stewart of Kerrville, Texas and Sylvia Stewart of Wasilla, Alaska; grandchildren Zach Stewart and wife Cassie of Houston, Texas, Ashtin Miller and husband Joey of Kingwood, Texas, Cameron Stewart and wife Lindye of The Woodlands, Texas, Kyle Stewart and wife Gemini of Loveland, Colorado, and Clayton Stewart of The Woodlands, Texas; great grandchildren Regan, Bradley, Marshall, Levi, Jasper, Anri and Emile, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
