Dr. Billy Gervice Freeman, 79, passed away, December 13, 2014 at his home in Mexia. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Niedecken and Mr. Jan Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Billy was born June 7, 1935 in Point Enterprise, Texas to Gervice Marion and Lois Vesta Speights Freeman. After graduating from Mexia High School, he continued his education at Texas A & M graduating with a PHD. Billy was a professor at Texas Tech University for 25 years and served as a consultant for the State Department in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. On September 5, 1965, he married Landereth Brown in Fort Worth, Texas; they were blessed with two daughters, Karen and Kristina. His love for God and his family was evident in the way he lived his life. Billy cherished his family, especially his granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Landereth Freeman; parents; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Gerald Yarbrough. Billy is survived by his two daughters, Karen Harrison and husband, Walt of Mexia and Kristina Brunson and husband, Jason of Bryan; two granddaughters, Emma Jewel Brunson and Lucy Kate Harrison; nephew, Michael Ray Yarbrough and wife, Emily. Pallbearers will be Walt Harrison, Jason Brunson, Michael Yarbrough, Hal Speights, Steve Speights and Stan Speights.
