He graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1953, and went on to Sam Houston Teacher College where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. Edmund married Roxie Ann Boles on June 6, 1959, in Teague; they celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with three children, Michael, Anna Marie and John Paul.

Church, community involvement and volunteer work were extremely important to Edmund. A lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, he taught catechism, served on the parish council and received the Lumen Gentium Award, a prestigious life-long service award from the Bishop of the Austin Diocese. Community and volunteer endeavors included the Limestone County Farm Bureau, where he served as president and on many committees at both the county and state levels. He received the Farm Bureau Pioneer award in 2008. Additional organizations benefiting from his involvement were Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, Retired Teachers Association, Pt. Enterprise Water Supply Corp. and the Knights of Columbus, where he once served as the Grand Knight. When time allowed, Edmund also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Anna Schuster; brothers, Michael F. and Joseph L. Schuster; and sister, Mary Anna Minchew.

Edmund is survived by his wife, Roxie Ann Schuster; children, Michael Dale Schuster and wife, Lori of Midlothian, Anna Marie Schuster Kantor and husband, Ted of Mexia and John Paul Schuster and wife, Donna of Brackettville; grandchildren, Stefani Carney and husband, Joe, Emily Burkhart, Ashton Kantor, Zane Kantor, Shelby Schuster, Tyler Schuster and Stetson Schuster; great grandchildren, Madison and Mason Tackett, Camille and Colten Carney, and Wyatt Burkhart; sister, Helen Matthews; and numerous nieces and nephews.
