Elmer Eugene "Gene" Dempsey passed away January 7, 2019 at his home in Mexia at the age of 91. He was born August 11, 1927 in Oletha, Texas to Elmer Leon and Ida Ola Spikes Dempsey. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Dempsey; and brother Melvin Dempsey.
Gene is survived by his wife, Nell Montgomery; son, Michael Montgomery; step-son Billy Montgomery; and step-daughter, Tonya Montgomery.
