Evelyn Downs

Evelyn Jacqueline Downs passed away, April 28, 2018, at her home in Cleburne, Texas at the age of 83. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Coolidge with Rev. Larry Holden officiating. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Donald Erwin, Kenneth Erwin, Kevin Swafford, Brent Erwin, Cody Schmidt and Chris Stewart will serve as pallbearers. Evelyn was born September 24, 1934 in Boggy Depot, Oklahoma to John and Florence Troutman Teafatiller. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great friend to many. She was very excited when she recently learned she was going to be a great grandmother. Evelyn had a profound faith in Jesus Christ her Savior. She loved to crochet, knit, work puzzles and play games with her grandchildren. She especially loved crocheting baby blankets. Those receiving the blankets considered them a very special gift, as they knew each stitch was made with love. Evelyn was a faithful member of the College Heights Baptist Church in Cleburne. She was also a member of the Wedgewood Chapter Order of Eastern Star in Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Erwin. Evelyn is survived by her loving children, David Schmidt and wife, Diane and Peggy Guettsche and husband, JC; grandchildren, Katie Guettsche, Kevin and Colin Swafford, Jennifer Stewart and husband, Chris and Cody Schmidt; nieces and nephews, Donald Erwin and wife, Katrina and their children, Kenneth and wife, Jnette, Mason and Chase, Deirdre Erwin and Brent Erwin, Tonya Upchurch and husband, John and their son, Jacob; siblings, Treon Erwin, Dan Teafatiller and sister-in-law, Betty.
