Evelyn Juanita Padgett, 85, passed away January 9, 2015 in Palestine, Texas. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Jeff Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Cotton Gin Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 2:00-3:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Evelyn was born April 13, 1929 in Shanks (Freestone County), Texas to Maron Author and Lois Mildred Day Padgett. She retired from the Mexia State School after many years of service. Evelyn was a quiet, sweet loving person who just loved people. She thoroughly enjoyed working at the Mexia State School and taking care of "Her Kids". She enjoyed playing the piano, music and working in the yard. Evelyn had a passion for driving around the countryside. When she needed a break from everyday things, driving was her therapy. She loved her church famiily and attending Northside Baptist Church in Mexia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland Padgett; and son, Glenn Padgett. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Dawn Wettermark and husband, Ricky of Fairfield; grandchildren, Danny Alan Wettermark and wife, Krystal, Christopher Padgett and Brittney Milligan and husband, Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Marshall Milligan and Davin Wettermark; brothers, Herbert Glenn Padgett and wife, Patricia of New Mexico and Sammy Maurice Padgett and wife, Leigh Ann of Normangee; sister, Valarie Hedrick and husband, Billy of Crockett; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Calvin Hedrick, Stacy Hedrick, Warren Padgett, Clayton Padgett, Clifton Padgett and Bubba Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hedrick and Leslie Parker.
