George Jackson Liles, III

George Jackson Liles, III, of Mexia, passed away May 4, 2025 in Austin, Texas at the age of 82. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Blackmon officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Forest Glade Cemetery. Johnny Ingram, Jackson Ingram, Batie Liles Bishop, Noah Flores, Matthew Paschal, Scott Rabine, Saxton Rabine, Jude White, Kade Johnson, Wesley Ticknor, Clint Fisher and Josh Fisher. The Mexia Police Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.

George was born June 22, 1942 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He served on the Mexia Police Department as an investigating officer for 20 years, although no longer active, George continued to retain his Master Peace Officer Certification. He taught classes in photography at Navarro College in addition to owning and operating Photos by Liles for over 20 years.

George was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Dailey Liles; daughters, Jana Kay Liles and Perri Manette Ingram; and sister, Betty Recknor.

George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gladys Grace (Fisher) Liles; daughter, Dustie Liles Bishop; grandchildren, Matthew Paschal, Kendal Rabine and husband, Scott, Morgan Welch, Reagan Welch, and Jackson Ray Ingram; great grandchildren, Saxton and Denise Rabine, Noah Flores, Avery Henderson, Helena Ticknor, Jude White, Batie Liles Bishop and Davie Marie Bishop; sister, Carolyn Hancock; son-in-law, Johnny Ingram; and numerous nieces and nephews.
