Georgia Dabney Carroll

Georgia Dabney Carroll passed away on September 16, 2025 at 91 years of age. Georgia was born February 23, 1934 in Dawson, Texas, to Dee and Alma Dabney. She grew up with the joy of country living and family. Georgia was one of eleven children. Her childhood home was in Wortham, Texas where she met Fain Carroll, Jr. "the love of her life" and they married on December 23, 1953, in Waco, Texas. They made their home in Mexia, Texas and were married 70 years. Together they built a beautiful life full of love, laughter, simple pleasures, six children and togetherness.

Georgia was a God loving, hard working wife, mother, Granny, aunt and friend. On, how she loved her children and family, unconditionally. She loved all people. Sitting on the front porch was one of her special places. She loved traveling, garage sales, gardening, sewing, cooking and caring for others. When she was younger, she sewed for her own children and later all her young grandchildren. She loved planting flowers tending the garden, going to church, as well as music, singing and dancing. The most joy came from family gatherings, visits and garage sales with her sister Bettye.

Her love for the Lord guided her life.

She retired after 25 years from the Mexia State School. She was an active member of South McKinney Baptist Church for many years and later joined First Baptist Church, Mexia.  Always putting God first in her life and taught her children the same.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 70 years, Fain Everett Carroll, Jr.; son Robert Lee Carroll, granddaughters Holly, Rachel and Nicole Carroll; her siblings and many other loved ones.

Georgia is survived by sons, Paul Carroll and wife, Millie of Mexia, John Carroll and Stacy of Mexia, daughters, Debbie Clawson of Vacaville, California, Carla Teer and husband Rick of Mexia, Texas, Karen Jureczki and husband, Lawrence of Johnson City, Texas; daughter in-law Kathy Carroll Mexia; sisters-in-laws Jodell Trantham, Lavelle Dabney and Mami Rae Dabney. She was the best Granny to many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephew and friends.

She was loved as "Granny" from the good folks at The Manor. Georgia has left our hearts full of wonderful memories, life lessons and the love of God and Jesus, Our Savior. The wonderful family our parents created as husband and wife continues to grow, even today.

Special thanks to The Manor Family and LTC Staff in Groesbeck for their care and love for our Mama.
