She was married to Gerald Stanley, a Missionary Baptist minister, for several years. After his death in 2009, she returned to Mexia for a few years. During this time, Gerry joined the Temple Baptist Church where she became very active, including playing the piano. However, due to her health, she moved to be near her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Bliss, Gerald Stanley; and brother, Kenneth Guest. Gerry is survived by her daughter, Heather Bliss of Arlington; grandson, Noah Griffis; sisters, Patsy Johnson and husband, Floyd of Mexia and Peggy Pipkin and husband, Dick of Houston; twin brother, Jimmy Guest and wife, Jane of China Spring; and a number of nieces and nephews.
