Gloria Hartsfield

Gloria Marie Hartsfield, 85, left her earthly home in Waco, Texas on August 11, 2014 to enter her heavenly home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville, Georgia with Rev. Rudy Ross officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville, GA. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation with the family at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville, Georgia. Gloria was born April 30, 1929 in Cartersville, Georgia to Ben and Lona Mae Stiles Mills. She married Charles E. Hartsfield on November 6, 1949. They later moved to the Tehuacana/Mexia area. She retired from the Mexia State School after 20 years of service as an executive assistant. Gloria's love and dedication for Jesus and her family was exemplified by the way she lived her life. She happily served as a pastor's wife and loved Southern Gospel Music. She also loved her extended family, her pets, Princess and Scotty. Some of her most memorable times were living in Tehuacana during the Westminster College days. Gloria enjoyed oil painting and traveling; travels that carried her to the Holy Land (twice), Alaska, the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. Gloria's smile and warm caring ways will be missed by all who knew and loved her. To her children, she will remembered as the best mom ever and a wonderful cook who made the best cornbread dressing and carrot cake on earth. Also, a favorite saying, "I love you to the moon and back, to infinity and beyond, forever and ever!" She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years, Rev. Charles E. Hartsfield; and brother, Wilson Mills. Gloria is survived by three daughters, Hannah Combs of Richmond, VA, Becky Hartsfield of Portland Oregon and Deborah Hartsfield; three grandchildren, Tabetha New Wilson and husband, Brian, Tiffany New-Courtney and husband, Haynes and A.C. Hartsfield and wife, Ashonte; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Cassie and Ashley Wilson, James Courtney, Tiyana and Bryce Hartsfield; brother, Albert Mills of Tucker, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
