Hillry Truitt

Hillry Leo Truitt, 83, of Thornton, passed away September 27, 2014 in Waco, Texas. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the Thornton Cemetery with Bro. Danny Overton officiating. Hillry was born March 30, 1931 in Kennedy, Texas to Robert Allen and Carrie Mary Clifton Truitt. He retired from the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department after many years of service. Hillry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army's Corp of Engineers during the Korean War. His favorite hobby was tinkering in his workshop. He was a member of Lake Limestone Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Altha Truitt; two sisters; and one brother. Hillry is survived by two sons, Bradley Truitt and wife, Linda of Thornton and Greg Truitt of Buda; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
