On August 7, 2025, Ida Mae Boyd was welcomed, not only by her Lord and Savior, but many family members as she entered her heavenly home at the age of 83. She was born in Weinert, Texas on October 25, 1941 to William Nathan and Inez (Cross) Drury.
Ida married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Douglas Boyd, on February 4, 1960 in Lubbock, Texas and they were blessed with five children, Kathy, Jerry Dale, Leana, Carmen, and James; family was their pride and joy. Ida was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Ida loved being a mother, but nothing could compare to being a grandmother and great grandmother; she truly cherished her grands. She loved having her family together for meals or anytime, the door was always open. Christmas was particularly a special family event.
Ida was a Christian; she enjoyed going to church and being with her church family. She had an outgoing personality, greeted everyone with a smile, treated everyone the way she wanted to be treated – no matter who they were. Although Ida wasn’t a very big lady, she could usually handle whatever came up and get her point over without any confrontation.
Ida’s favorite activity was spending as much time as possible with her grands and great grands, spoiling them. She also enjoyed fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, tending to her plants, and traveling with her girls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Jerry; son, James Lewis Boyd; brothers, Herbert, Cleave, Dorsey, Jimmy, Calvin, and W. D. Drury; sisters, Carolyn Talbot, Barbara Drury, and Rose Marie Drury; and daughter-in-law, Christine Spruiell Boyd.
Ida is survived by children, Kathy Anderson and husband, Ronnie, Jerry Dale Boyd, Leana Dabney and husband, Steven, and Carmen Kuehn and husband, Wesley; grandchildren, Coby Sterling and wife, Robyn, Taylor Conklin and husband, Ryan, Cory Anderson, Christopher Boyd, Jennifer Boyd, Shane Dabney and wife, Haley, Tera Nobora and husband, Brandon, Dillon Dabney, Bradly Brady and wife, April, Whitney Brady and Aaron Childs, Lauren Taylor and husband, Joey, and Josh Kuehn; 26 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., at Blair-Stubbs funeral home in Mexia.
