Mr. James Maxie Harris, 84 of Cotton Gin passed away Saturday, September 24, 2005 in Mexia. Mr. Harris was born October 18, 1920 in Springhill, Navarro County to Albert Maxie and Hallie Vera Slater Harris. Mr. Harris served his country during WW II in the Navy. He married Mildred Leona Lane on May 15, 1942 in Purdon, Texas. He had worked for Dallas County as a heavy machine operator until his retirement. Mr. Harris was a Baptist. Funeral arrangements are scheduled for 11 am Monday, September 26, 2005 in the Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Alvin Armstrong will officiate at the service and the burial will follow in the Cotton Gin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Lane, Jack Reed, Crayton Taylor, Herb Casey, Mike Wren, Dale Lane, Rick Calame and Jim Kutch. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6 until 8 pm on Saturday evening. Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Harris of Cotton Gin, his children - James Ronald Harris of Arlington, Linda Kaye Calame of Mansfield and Deborah Glynn Thomas and her husband Tony of Cotton Gin, Five Grandchildren - Matthew Joel Harris of Arlington, Richard Bryan Calame of Gulf Shores, Alabama, David Allen Harris of Arlington, Rebecca Harris of Weatherford and Cliff B. Thomas and wife Thrish of San Antonio, one Great Granddaughter - Macee Raye Calame of Burleson, also by one sister - Mammie Lee Kennedy of Alabama.
