Jim Manley

Jim Walker Manley of Mexia, Texas passed away on May 15, 2018, at his home in Cedar Isle Ranch near Coolidge. He was 75 years old. Funeral services will be held at Tehuacana Methodist Church on Friday, May 18, at 3 p.m with Rev. Chris Rowe officiating. Visitation will be held at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17, with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Gary Isbell, Lewis Isbell, Kelly Isbell, Butch Kofnovec, Jerry Ward, and Mark Hancock. Jim "The Gentleman" was born on February 4, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas to William and Roxie "Nell" Walker Manley, of Nopalito Ranch near Laredo, Texas. He grew up in Franklin, Texas, in Robertson County, attended grade school in Laredo, Texas, and later graduated from Alice High School in Alice, Texas. Jim worked as a rancher for his entire life and won many prestigious ranching awards. He loved to be outdoors roping, riding, and raising hell. Jim also loved to sing and adored the oldies. He had a golden sense of humor and would never let you get away without cracking a joke (even if he'd told you it before). Jim met the love of his life and future wife, Patty Schueneman, in 1970, in Freer, Texas. They married in 1974 and had one daughter, Samantha in 1986. After many years ranching in South Texas at Nopalito Ranch, Jim and Patty retired to their dream home at Cedar Isle Ranch in Limestone County in 2006. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William Manley and Roxie "Nell" Walker Manley. He is survived by his wife, Patty Schueneman Manley; daughter Samantha Manley and husband Santiago Araque; sisters Kathleen Gillilan and Lane Mabray; brothers-in-law Doug Schueneman and wife Debbie, and John Schueneman and wife Latisha; dear friends Gary Isbell, John Wong, and Lucio Martinez and wife Yeni and family; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
