Jimmie Royce Norris

Jimmie Royce Norris, 90, passed away on May 29,2025 in Mexia, Texas surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. A family visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Jimmie was born on April 1, 1935, in Dawson County, Texas to Maurice and Pauline (Underwood) Norris. He moved to the Mexia area in 1975 where he worked for a short period with Adrian Melcher and then opened, and maintained, his cabinet shop and carpentry business for over 50 years. He was well known for his expertise in building cabinets. 

Jimmie married Janis Elaine “Lumpy” Mayfield on March 6, 1987, at Temple Baptist Church and they were blessed with 38 years of marriage. His hobbies included fishing, dancing, piano playing, guitar, country music, watching western shows and spending time with family. Lumpy and Jimmie enjoyed taking the two-man boat to different tanks to fish; dancing in the cabinet shop as well as enjoyed long drives in the country. His family will always remember that he had a smile on his face and jokes and crazy nicknames for friends and family. 

He was 60-year mason and a member of the Springfield Masonic Lodge No.74, AF&AM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and others. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Elaine Norris, daughter, Vickie Woods of Big Flat, Arkansas, Bo Norris of Sebastian, Florida, Mark and Sherry Christopher of North Richland Hills, Texas, Jay Norris of Fort Worth, Texas, Heath Norris of Fort Worth, Texas, and Scott and Maria Christopher of Tehuacana, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
