Jimmy Ray York passed away on December 22, 2025, in Mexia, Texas at the age of 92. He was born in Mexia, Texas to William Henry and Mary (Sikes) York on March 28, 1933.
Services are planned for Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Old Bethel Cemetery with military honors. Officiating the service will be Reverend Scott Matthews and pallbearers will be Monte Calame, Andrew Morris, Trent Daniel, Luke Calame, Jason Browne and Jason Morgan. Honorary pallbearer is Drew Morris.
Jimmy was a lifelong resident of the Mexia and Teague areas. He served in the Army for two years from 1953-1955. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Ann (Watson) on April 6, 1963. They have seen 62 wonderful years of marriage together. He worked for many years for the Railroad in Bridge Construction. His hobbies were mainly related to the outdoors as he liked to fish, hunt and garden.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Alvie York and W.H. York, two sisters Meta Ruth York and Retha York Smith. Survivors are his wife Carolyn York, daughters Vicki Carol Calame and husband Monte, Paula Kay Morris and husband Andrew; grandchildren Jessica Morgan and husband Jason, Luke Calame, Avery Morris, Andrew Morris, Rachel Kennedy; and great grandchildren Amelia Morgan, Evie Morgan and Ella Kennedy.
