Joan Adell Ross passed away December 1, 2017 at her home in Kosse at the age of 77. Funeral services will be 2 PM, Monday, December 4, 2017 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service from 1-2 PM. Joan was born October 7, 1940 in Fredonia, New York to William Douglas Mourer, Sr. and Marion Adell Kennedy Mourer. She has lived in Texas for a total of 46 years; Kosse has been her home for 16 years. Joan married her loving husband, Oliver Kay Ross, on November 17, 1957 in Gary, Indiana and they were blessed with five children, Wenona, Vanessa, Timothy, Kathleen and Rodney. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, or "Granny", as she was affectionately known. Her life revolved around her family and she loved, nothing more than, taking care of her grandchildren. She not only loved children, she also loved all types of animals as well. When she wasn't busy with her family, Joan enjoyed painting, drawing and ceramics. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wenona Kay Ross; brother William Douglas Mourer, Jr.; and nephews, David Mourer and Kris Mourer. Joan is survived by her husband of 60 years, Oliver K. Ross of Kosse; children, Vanessa Claire Ross and fiancé, Paul Taylor, Timothy Thomas Ross of Kosse, Kathleen Jo Johnson and husband, Patrick of Clifton and Rodney Clifford Holt and wife, Kimberly of Chesterton, IN; grandchildren, Sabrina Ann Mertz, Clifton Wayne Anderson, Christopher Lee Swaim, Richard Henry Smith, Heidi Magdelena Aguirre, Jeremy Allen Waltrapp, Charlie James Rice, D. Seay Kiel, Jacob Ross Kiel, Joan Roseann Ross, Nicole Shultz and Katelin Holt; 16 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Terry Mourer and Joel David Mourer.
