JoAnn Oakes

JoAnn McCoslin Oakes passed away March 29, 2018 in Houston, Texas at the age of 78. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in the Oakes Cemetery with Ms. Nicia Oakes officiating. JoAnn was born July 30, 1939 in Houston, Texas to Waymon and Elvis Walker McCoslin. She married Wesley Lynn Oakes and they were blessed with a son, David. JoAnn was a devoted and loving wife and mother; family was very important to her. JoAnn was very gracious, generous and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed having company in her home and went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt welcomed. JoAnn was also a very good cook and, according to family members, made the best dressing of anyone. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wesley Oakes; and parents. JoAnn is survived by her son, David Oakes of Houston; and other relatives.
