John Jarrell

John James "JJ" Jarrell passed away April 12, 2018 at his home in Wortham, Texas at the age of 30. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Wortham with Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Wortham Cemetery. Scott Wilkins, Will Barnes, Clint Crawshaw, Adrian Beck, Michael Dunn, Cory Cawthorne, Cal Johnson and Chunky Busby will serve as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. JJ was born March 29, 1988 in Dallas, Texas to Randy L. and Bettina Stubbs Jarrell. He grew up in Wortham and graduated from Wortham High School. He had been Plant Operator for Enbridge, Inc. for 10 years. JJ loved and cherished his family. Although he had no children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. They thought their Uncle JJ was the greatest and, given the choice, they would choose staying with him over anyone else. He was outgoing, enjoyed being around people and made friends wherever he went. JJ enjoyed working, he wasn't one to be idle. He loved his cows and ranching. His grandfather called him "his ranch hand", a title he was proud of. They shared the same interest and a very special bond. He was a hunter and spent many hours training hunting dogs as well as cow dogs. Of all his dogs, his very favorite was Bess. In years past, JJ enjoyed and excelled in playing baseball. He was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Wortham. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarabeth Matthews; maternal grandmother, Mattie Stubbs; paternal grandmother, Sharon Crow; and paternal grandfather, M. L. Jarrell, Jr.. JJ is survived by his loving parents, Randy and Bettina Jarrell of Wortham; sister, Juliann Jarrell Allen and husband, Drew of Wortham; nieces, Sophie Yeldell and Ansley Allen; nephews, Cade Matthews, Luke and Eli Allen; maternal grandfather, John Stubbs of Wortham; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
