Jona Fay Cooper, 81, of La Porte, passed away at her home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in the Cotton Gin Cemetery with Rev. Bill Wright officiating. Jona was born January 6, 1932 in Mexia, Texas to Buford M. and Bertha Mildred Padgett Lancaster. She devoted her life to her husband and raising their children. She also worked for Sage Stores as their toy department manager and in several jewelry stores. Traveling, shopping for antiques and going to garage sales and flea markets were her favorite hobbies. Jona was always ready to "go", regardless of who it was with or where they were going, you didn't have to ask twice. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie Cooper; and brother, Johnny Wayne Lancaster. Jona is survived by her daughers, Shirley Touchet and husband, Jacob of Iowa, LA and Nancy An Barnes of Pasadena, TX; four grandchildren, Danny Hollowell, Tina Hollowell, Crystal Cawich and husband, Leo and Amy Flores and husband, Sal; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Lancaster and wife, Evelyn of Montgomery; and Wayne Crittenden, longtime friend and companion.
