Lance Duane Gehring

Lance Duane Gehring, of Mexia, passed away April 8, 2026 in Waco, Texas at the age of 37. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2026 in the Mexia Cemetery.

Lance was born on October 21, 1988 in Corsicana, Texas. He attended school in Dawson, Mexia and then spent some time in the Young Marines in Waco.

Lance had an outgoing personality, never met a stranger, and was always willing to help anyone. He enjoyed working on most anything and really loved a challenge when it came to fixing things that were almost non-fixable. He would not give up until it was fixed. He also liked to cook and was kind of a food critic; he never minded giving his opinion whether they ask for it or not.

Lance liked spending time with family, especially his sisters, who affectionally called him “Bubba”. They all enjoyed getting together, just hanging out whenever time allowed. He was very independent, loved his mother’s help occasionally but really preferred to do things for himself.

Lance is survived by his mother, Susan Roberts and stepfather, Greg (Frog); father, Heath Gehring; daughter, Kayla Gehring; sisters, Emilie Roberts and Lillie Roberts; niece, Mayla McCraw; grandmother, Jodell Trantham; and a number of aunts, uncles and other family members.
