Leslie Don Cook, 81 of Axtell Texas, passed away peacefully on February,11, 2026 in Waco, Texas after a brief illness surrounded by his wife and daughter. Leslie was born on April 20, 1944, to Alton and Ruby Lee (Prince) Cook, in Gholson, Texas. Leslie dedicated 37 years of service to TxDot and retired in 2007.

Leslie is survived by his wife of 49 years Kay Cook, daughter Juanita and husband Derrall Mosley of Corsicana, Texas; son, Christopher Cook of Axtell, Texas; grandsons, Seth Ballard and Lane Ballard, of Mt. Calm, Texas, brother Mickey Cook, of Waco, Texas, sister Pat Miller, Jacksonville, Florida and father of his grandchildren, Mark Ballard of Mt. Calm, Texas and William, Jimmy, Donald, and Joseph Cook. 

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, February 16, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia, Texas. Funeral Services are planned for Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Mexia, Texas. Burial will be at the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Jessie Henry, Seth Ballard, Lane Ballard, Ronnie Thornton, Cameron Sandifer, Dennis Cook and Tony Contreras.
