Linda was born December 15, 1949 in Mexia, Texas to Kirby and Clydene (Holloway) Hyden. She grew up in the Groesbeck area and graduated from Groesbeck ISD, Class of l968. Linda married the love of her life, Walter Benjamin Jackson on January 25, 1969 in Groesbeck, Texas and soon after, decided it was important that she continue her education. Once Linda made up her mind to do something, she was determined to do it. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and then completed her master’s degree in education leadership. Although Linda retired from Mexia ISD after 44 years of teaching, she continued to work as a substitute teacher. She loved kids and teaching; she touched the lives of many.
Linda’s love for family went from being a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and daughter, to taking on the role of being a second mother to her siblings. She was always supportive of the activities in which her children and other family members were involved. She enjoyed traveling whether it was on business trips with Walter or family vacations.
Linda was a leader, very strong-willed, and never gave up or gave in on anything she felt was important. Several years ago, when she was diagnosed with cancer, she was planning a cruise and that didn’t stop her, she was determined to fight it and live life to the fullest, and she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kirby and Clydene Hyden; her husband of 55 years, Walter; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Gala Hyden; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Marian Jackson; and brother-in-law, Henry Jackson.
Linda is survived by her children, Christi Jackson, Julie Amick and husband Joel, and Benjamin Jackson; grandchildren, Megan Wise, Stewart and Christopher Welch, Ashley Davis, Kelsey Mudd, and Chance Taylor; siblings, Randy and Dawna Hyden, Kirby and Sammy Hyden, Debra and Zachary Dillon, Cindy and Mark Martin; in-laws, Debbie and Bobby Walton, Susan and Bud Carroll, Trisha Dillon, and Judy Jackson; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
