Lois Lauralee “Laurey” Amens, 84, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in Mexia, Texas. She was born on January 2, 1942, in Portland, Oregon, to Thomas Styles and Lois Laura (Hughs)Styles.
Laurey was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Robert Duane Amens; her parents, Thomas and Lois Styles; and her first grandson, Jackson Amens.
She is survived by her son, Robert Duane Amens, Jr. and wife Candice Amens, along with their daughters, Taryn and Jensen. Known lovingly as “Laurey” by her many friends and family members, she dedicated more than 30 years of her life to nursing. She had a servant’s heart and found great joy in helping others, both medically and personally. Her compassion and kindness touched countless lives through her work and through the many medical mission trips she participated in over the years. Laurey also enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, golfing, and in recent years, spending time playing cards with family and friends. Throughout her life she called many places home, living in Oregon, New Mexico, California, and finally Texas. Wherever she lived, she brought warmth, laughter, and care to those around her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church in Groesbeck on July 29th, 2026, at 11 am, with lunch to follow.
