In Loving Memory of Wayne Hensley (Lyle Wayne Hensley 1941 - 2025)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lyle Wayne Hensley, a kind and gentle man who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Wayne lived a life marked by quiet strength and an unwavering devotion to his family. His gentle spirit and easy smile will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
Wayne was the beloved father of Dacia Reyes of McKinney, TX, and Allen Hensley of Houston, TX as well as a wonderful father-in-law to Richard Reyes of McKinney, Tx. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Courtney Kaster, Julia Kinard, Sophia Reyes, Caleb Reyes, David Hensley, and Michelle Hensley. He is also survived by his dear sister, Darla Schwartz of Teague, TX, as well as several nieces and nephews, including the McMullen and Cline families of Houston, TX, who will always carry his memory in their hearts.
A proud veteran, Wayne served honorably in the United States Air Force. He was the class president of his graduating high school senior class, a role he treasured, and he remained close with many of his classmates throughout the years. After his service, he built a long and successful career, retiring as Vice President from Turner Industries Piping in Paris, TX, where he earned the respect, admiration, and friendship of many.
Never one to sit still, Wayne found great joy working on his farm, driving his tractor, mowing, and simply staying busy outdoors. The land was his sanctuary, and he nurtured it with the same care and attention he gave to those he loved. He had an incredible gift for keeping in touch, always making time for his family and friends, ensuring that no distance or time could lessen the bonds he valued so deeply.
He shared a beautiful life with his late wife, Glenna Hensley, traveling together and making memories that would last a lifetime. Their love and devotion to one another served as a testament to the life he lived: a profound appreciation for the simple joys of being together and holding close those he loved.
Wayne was a man who loved well and was deeply loved in return. His kindness, loyalty, and the quiet wisdom he carried will remain a guiding strength for his family and all who knew him. And true to his nature, when faced with a decision—big or small—Wayne would often smile, and say, “I’ll think about it,” a phrase that became both an endearing quirk and a gentle reminder of his thoughtful way of moving through life.
Though we deeply mourn his loss, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the enduring love he leaves behind. Until we meet again, his memory will live on in every story shared, every field tended, and every act of devotion inspired by his example.
