Marilyn Joyce "Lynn" Stromire passed away April 22, 2019 at her home in Houston at the age of 83. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2019 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Bro. Josh Gafford officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. B. J. Brotherton, Sadie Williams, John Stone, Casey Stromire, John Ainsworth and Toby Ainsworth will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Stromire, Bobby Brotherton, Jerry Fisher, Shirley Gage, Gail Seale and Jonny Arizpe.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Lynn was born February 12, 1936 in the Oaks Community (Limestone County), Texas to Otis and Ora Lee Ainsworth Brotherton. She spent a lifelong career in the insurance business, including, 40 plus years owning her own agency.
Lynn met and married Charles "Sonny" Stromire in 1981, after he moved his trucking business to Houston. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home and having the opportunity to make new friends along the way. Prior to his death, she and Sonny were blessed with 35 wonderful years together.
Lynn loved nothing more than spending time with family, including her puppy dog, Leah. She also enjoyed going to the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas. Lynn believed in making the most of life and enjoying it to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles E. Stromire; son, David Gilpin; and one step-grandchild, Scott Stromire.
Marilyn is survived by her dear friend and daughter-in-law, Sadie Williams of Houston; step-son, Steve Stromire and wife, Julie; two step-grandchildren, Josh Stromire and wife, Nicki and Casey Stromire and wife, Gloria; three great grandchildren; brother, Bobby Brotherton of Palestine; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Lott of Donie, B. J. Brotherton of Donie, Travis Brotherton of Palestine and Jody Brotherton of Palestine.
