Mary Katherine Cannon

Mary Katherine Cannon passed away on September 29, 2026, in Mexia, Texas. She was born in Houston, Texas to Frank and Mabel Sue (Bryant) Longer on November 20, 1947.

Mary married Bobby Lee Cannon on February 25, 1985, in Orange, Texas. They moved to the Mexia area in 2004. She was a Bakery Manager or Greenhouse Manager during the years that she worked. She thoroughly enjoyed being at home on her property as she loved to work on the flowerbeds and feed her ducks and chickens.

Mary enjoyed attending Christ Gospel Fellowship and love her church family dearly. Some of her favorite times were spent with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. They held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Marshall Arfele and brothers Leo Longer and John Longer. Survivors are her son Randy Arfele, daughter in-law Connie Arfele; grandchildren, Leah, Alena, Justin, Sierra, Savana, Rachel, Jared; great grandchildren Aubrey, Audrina, Ava, Sophia, Issac, Ivine and Wyatt; brothers, Leonard Longer of Thornton Texas, Thomas and Ann Longer of Canyon, Texas, Wayne and Carol Longer of Cypress, Texas as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Christ Gospel Fellowship Church in Mexia, Texas with Pastor Stephen Dubois officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Rock Prairie Cemetery in Madisonville, Texas following the funeral service.
