Matthew Hunter Larson, of Wortham, passed away September 6, 2019 in Mexia at the age of 30. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Mexia. Interment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin, Texas. Larry Bonner, Chaz Bonner, Stephen Bates, Alex Ezell, Mitch Carder, Keith Reynolds, Lane Reynolds and James Bonner will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Matthew was born August 13, 1989 in Greenville, North Carolina. He graduated from Fairfield High School, Class of 2007, where he participated in the Civil Air Patrol, band, jazz band and karate. He attended college for two years. Matthew worked for Woodson's Lumber Company and, also, as a correctional officer for the H. H. Coffield TDCJ Beto Unit in Palestine, Texas
Matthew never met a stranger; he was not only very likeable but had a giving heart. He loved his family, they were the most important part of his life, and nothing made him prouder than being an uncle. Matthew was, also, an avid reader, enjoyed video games and spending time with cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wiley Minchew and Elaine McGill; Paternal grandparents, Marshall Ray and Kathleen Thompson.
Matthew is survived by his loving mother, Pamela Beene and husband, Sam of Wortham; grandfather, Robert Raynor, Sr. of Jamestown, NY; grandmother, Gloria Minchew of Wortham; sister, Victoria Bates and husband, Stephen and their daughter, Rayleigh of Nashville, TN; half-sister, Savannah Raynor of Jamestown, NY; step-sisters, Sammie Joe Watson and husband, Matt of Teague, Samantha Beene of Tehuacana and Brandy Beene and Paul David Robinson of Kirvin; step-brother, Kody Beene of Fairfield; aunts, Debra Minchew of Mexia and Sherry Bonner and husband, Jimmy of Fairfield; cousins, April Lee, Deann Dailey, James Bonner, Larry Bonner, Chaz Bonner; and numerous other cousins and friends.
