Michael Douglas "Mickey" Hancock, 52, passed away June 24, 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Mickey was born March 17, 1962 in Mexia, Texas to Garland Dean and Carolyn Liles Hancock. He was a lifelong resident of Mexia and a graduate of Mexia High School, Class of 1980. He was a 20 year employee of the Texas Department of Corrections. On July 29, 1985, Mickey married the love of his life, Tracy Bowen at the First Baptist Church in Mexia. They were proudly blessed with a daughter, Lindsey Marie. He loved his family so much and enjoyed spending time with "his girls" at home and on many family trips. Mickey was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and a great friend to so many, young and old. He always had a warm greeting and a smile for everyone he met. Mickey will be remembered as the ultimate "cheer dad", connoisseur of rock & roll and one who met life's challenges with dignity and grace. He was preceded in death by his father, Garland "Dean" Hancock. Mickey is survived by his wife, Tracy Hancock of Mexia; daughter, Lindsey Hancock of Mexia; mother, Carolyn Hancock of Mexia; brothers, Terry Hancock and wife, Kim of Denton and Kenny Hancock of Mexia; nieces and nephews, Ryan Hancock, Ashley Hancock, Katie Hancock, Jennifer and Chris Mulkey and Josh and Kimberly Epperson; other relatives and numerous friends. Pallbearers will be Mike Cain, Tony Killingsworth, Kelly Lauderdale, Alan Ingram, Dave Chilcoat, Kent Kendall, Jonnie Masters, Steve Minchew and Freddy Mack Tweedle. Honorary pallbearers will be Kreig Ingram and Kody Ingram. Memorials may be made to the Mexia Academic Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 534, Mexia, TX 76667 or First Baptist Church, 500 E. Carthage, Mexia, TX 76667.
