Monte Ray Law, of Burleson, passed away May 27, 2026 at the age of 65, though anyone who knew him would tell you he thought he was 25 right up to the end.
Monte was truly one of a kind. He never met a fishing hole he didn’t know about, and if there was a good spot within 100 miles, chances are he had already fished it. He loved being outdoors, riding his bike around the neighborhood, visiting with neighbors, and lending a hand to anyone who needed help. Whether it was fixing something, moving something, or just showing up when someone needed him, Monte was always there.
For more than 40 years, Monte worked as a painter and took tremendous pride in his craft. He was meticulous in his work and a true perfectionist, never satisfied until every detail was just right. His dedication, honesty, and work ethic earned him the respect of countless clients over the years. Many of those clients became good friends, a testament to the kind of person Monte was and the relationships he built wherever he went.
He was known for being late to just about everything and for never throwing anything away. To him, every item had a purpose, and every pile had a story. Those little quirks became a part of what made him so memorable and so loved.
Monte’s greatest pride was his family. He adored his only daughter, Brittani, and treasured every moment with his grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as “Pappy”. He loved his family fiercely and never missed an opportunity to tell stories, share advice, or make people laugh.
Monte shared a special bond with his older brother, Craig, and his sister-in-law, Sonia, both of whom he loved dearly. He was also especially close to his nephew, Nathan, who was always there when he needed him. Nathan helped Monte with anything and everything and stood by his side while helping care for his father in his final years. Their relationship was built on love, loyalty, and family, and it meant the world to Monte.
One of the most important people in his life was his dad, whom he loved dearly. After losing his father, there is comfort in knowing they are together again.
Monte favorite person and best friend was Sherry. He spent his days keeping her on her toes and, as anyone who knew them would agree, bugging the living daylights out of her. Thankfully, she loved him enough to put up with it, and their bond was something special.
Everyone who knew Monte has their own crazy story about him. He left an impression wherever he went, and those stories will be told for years to come. His laughter, his kindness, his stubbornness, his adventures, and his love for the people around him will never be forgotten.
Monte leaves behind a family and countless friends who will miss him dearly. While our hearts are broken by our loss, we are grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the love he gave so freely.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Joseph and Jimmie Lee (Riddell) Law.
Monte is survived by daughter, Brittani and husband, Ty Ahrendt; grandchildren, Jose Guadalupe Miranda III, Brooke Madyson Miranda, and Lexi Denae Law; brother, Charles Craig Steward and wife, Sonia; nephew, Nathan Steward; one and only favorite niece, Anna Steward; and longtime Best Friend, Sharon Davis.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2026 in the Coolidge Cemetery, Coolidge,Texas.
